比較級・最上級で住まいを説明する

住まいを比べたり説明したりするときは、比較級・最上級を使います。

形のおさらい

比較級：

• 短い語：bigger, smaller, cheaper, older
• 長い語：more spacious, more comfortable, more expensive
• 不規則：better, worse

最上級：

• 短い語：the biggest, the smallest, the cheapest
• 長い語：the most spacious, the most comfortable
• 不規則：the best, the worst

住まいを説明する例

"My flat is smaller than my parents' house, but it's more modern." → "私のアパートは実家より小さいですが、より近代的です。"

"The kitchen is the biggest room in the flat." → "キッチンはこのアパートで一番広い部屋です。"

"This is the most comfortable sofa I've ever had!" → "これは今まで持った中で一番快適なソファです！"

"My new flat is cheaper than the old one, but it's further from work." → "新しいアパートは前のより安いですが、職場からは遠いです。"

説明に便利な表現

• It's quite spacious / tiny / cosy. → 「かなり広い/とても小さい/居心地がいい。」
• It has a lovely view. → 「素敵な眺めがあります。」
• It's on the third floor. → 「3階にあります。」
