There is / There are — descrivere i luoghi
Si usano there is e there are per dire che qualcosa esiste o si trova da qualche parte.
There is → singolare o non numerabile
- There is a park near my house. → C'è un parco vicino a casa mia.
- There is a lovely bakery on the corner. → C'è una bella panetteria all'angolo.
- There is a lot of traffic in the morning. → C'è molto traffico al mattino.
There are → plurale
- There are two pharmacies in my neighbourhood. → Ci sono due farmacie nel mio quartiere.
- There are lots of cafés and restaurants nearby. → Ci sono molti bar e ristoranti nei dintorni.
Forme negative e interrogative
- There isn't a post office nearby. → Non c'è un ufficio postale nei dintorni.
- There aren't many parks in the city centre. → Non ci sono molti parchi in centro.
- Is there a library near here? → C'è una biblioteca qui vicino?
- Are there any good restaurants nearby? → Ci sono dei buoni ristoranti nei dintorni?
Trucco: nelle domande si usa any al posto di some: Is there any traffic?
